Hookup drawings are the documents nobody updates and every fitter needs. We rebuild the hookup set from a field survey of impulse lines, manifolds, mounting and tubing · typed into a standard hookup library so the next installation is repeatable rather than improvised.
A pressure transmitter can be correctly specified, correctly calibrated and still read wrong because the impulse line slopes the wrong way, the manifold is a three-valve where the application needs a five-valve, or the tapping is on the wrong side of a horizontal run. Hookup drawings are the only document that captures this, and on most brownfield plants they were issued once at construction and never revised. Meanwhile the plant changed: transmitters were replaced with a different face-to-face dimension, heat tracing was added, seals were fitted to a service that turned out to be crystallising. Without a current hookup set, every replacement becomes a field decision made by whoever is on shift, and the error is invisible until the reading drifts.

Hookup set rebuilt after repeated differential pressure drift on a wet gas service. Survey found 24 installations with impulse lines sloping toward the transmitter and no condensate pot. Standard hookup revised and the population corrected over two turnarounds.
