Cable Schedule As-Built

Every cable traced, sized and recorded from source panel to destination gland.

Cable schedules on brownfield plants describe the cables that were designed, not the cables that were pulled. We rebuild the schedule from a physical route and termination survey · from-to, size, type, gland, tray and segregation verified in the field and delivered as structured data.

Why this matters

Why an out-of-date cable schedule blocks every electrical study you commission

A load flow, a short circuit study, a protection coordination study and an arc flash calculation all take cable length, size and type as direct inputs. When the schedule is wrong, every downstream number is wrong with it · and cable data is the single most common source of error we find when auditing an existing ETAP or DigSILENT model. On a brownfield plant the schedule drifts for predictable reasons: cables get re-routed around later equipment, sizes get upgraded during a motor replacement without the schedule being reissued, spare cores get commissioned, and temporary supplies become permanent. The schedule also carries the segregation and derating evidence an electrical safety audit will ask for.

Method

How we deliver Cable Schedule As-Built

CEng MIE India-signed deliverables · LiDAR-powered where applicable · digital twin handover ready · routes to the As-Built Engineering practice lead within 24 hours.

01

Schedule and drawing consolidation

Existing cable schedule, SLD, panel schedules and tray layouts consolidated. Cables shown on the SLD but absent from the schedule, and vice versa, are flagged as the first walkdown targets.

02

Physical route and tray survey

Route walked and recorded · tray and duct sections, actual routed length against design length, fill percentage, segregation between power, control and instrumentation, and any shared route that breaches the site segregation rule.

03

Termination and gland verification

Both ends opened and verified · source panel and breaker or starter, destination equipment, conductor size and number of cores, armour and earthing arrangement, gland type and Ex certification where applicable, and cable tag against both drawings.

04

Schedule rebuild and derating check

Schedule rebuilt with verified from-to, size, type, length and route. Installed size checked against load and installation conditions to IEC 60364-5-52 grouping and ambient derating, with undersized runs raised as findings.

05

Structured handover

Delivered as a database-ready schedule alongside the drawing set, so it imports directly into your ETAP or DigSILENT model, your CMMS and your next protection study without re-keying.

Standards + compliance

Built to the standards your auditors quote

Reports reference the international and national standards your regulators, F500 audit teams, and corporate process safety leads cite. Every deliverable signed by a Chartered Engineer (CEng MIE India).

What this looks like in production

Three landmark engagements from our verified roster · quantified outcomes, no client names disclosed without written permission.

Steel plant, India · ETAP model correction

Cable schedule rebuilt for a 33 kV and 6.6 kV distribution ahead of a protection coordination study. 217 cables differed from the schedule on size, length or route. The corrected data changed calculated fault levels enough to alter three relay settings.

Refinery, Gulf · hazardous area audit

Gland and Ex certification verified across a hazardous area cable population. 46 glands recorded that did not match the zone classification of their location, closed out under a scheduled campaign.

Data centre, India · capacity expansion

Route and tray fill survey before an expansion. Existing tray sections already above fill limit identified, avoiding a design that assumed spare capacity that did not exist.

Frequently asked

Cable Schedule As-Built · the practical questions

Can you do this without shutting the plant down?
Most of it, yes. Route survey and tray work is live. Termination verification needs the panel open, so it is planned around available isolations or scheduled into a turnaround window.
How accurate are the cable lengths?
Routed length is measured along the actual tray path rather than estimated point to point. That difference matters · on long runs an estimated length can be 20 to 30 per cent short, which changes voltage drop and fault calculations.
Do you check whether cables are correctly sized?
Yes. Installed size is checked against the connected load with grouping and ambient derating applied to IEC 60364-5-52. Undersized runs are reported as findings with the derating basis shown.
Will this feed our power system study directly?
That is the point of delivering it as structured data. The schedule imports into ETAP or DigSILENT as a cable library, which is normally the longest task in building or correcting a model.
Do you record spare cores and spare ways?
Yes, both. Spare capacity is what the next project needs to know and it is almost never documented, which is why temporary supplies become permanent.
